The United Nations mission in Haiti has expressed its concern at reports that arms are being distributed as the country prepares to hold elections next month.
However the UN special envoy to Haiti, Edmund Mulet says similar allegations, without further specifics, recur every time there is an election in Haiti.
He is calling for anybody with knowledge of any such distribution to share it with local and UN police and with international election observers.
Meanwhile in a statement, a joint Caribbean Community-Organisation of American States observer mission urged campaigners to temper their enthusiasm during the silent visual phase of the campaign.
That's when candidates are permitted to post billboards and other posters.
