Trinidad and Britan's PM s hold talks on Air Passenger Tax.
Trinidad’s Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar yesterday held talks with her British counterpart David Cameron on the controversial Air Passenger Duty (APD) tax.
The tax is expected to be further increased at the start of next month.
An official statement released yesterday said each economy class traveller to the Caribbean island pays £50.00 or an equivalent US$77.00 in APD.
But the release went on to say that as of November 1, the figure will be increased to £75.00 or US$115.00, the second in as many years.
At the same time the levy for premium economy, business and first class passengers will rise from £100.00 to £150.00.
Following discussions with Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron and Foreign Minister Hague a commitment was given to impress upon the Treasury to revisit the level of the duties.
