The Roman Catholic Church in Cuba says the authorities have ordered the release of five more jailed dissidents who will go into exile in Spain.
The prisoners, four men and a woman are in addition to the 52 prisoners the government agreed to release in July.
The announcement comes days before European Union foreign ministers are due to review the EU's policy towards Cuba.
Thirteen of the 52 prisoners the government agreed to free in July are still in jail after refusing to leave the country.
The announcement comes on the same day that the European Parliament awarded Cuban dissident Guillermo Farinas its annual Sakhavrov Prize for Freedom of Thought.
