Wayne Rooney has made a shock U-turn and agreed a new five-year contract at Manchester United just two days after announcing his intention to leave.
On Wednesday, the 24-year-old striker said concerns over the strength of the club's squad were behind his original decision not to sign a new deal.
The club confirmed the news today, ending an amazing week in which Rooney claimed the Old Trafford outfit no longer matched his ambitions.
However, after demonstration by irate supporters at his house in Prestbury, Rooney is now set to stay at Old Trafford.
Rooney agreed to extend his contract after consultation with the owners, who allayed his fears about the future direction of the club. His new contract runs until 2015.
