Already beset by a massive earthquake and a tsunami, the Indonesian government is now contending with tens of thousands of persons who are now displaced as a result of a volcanic eruption.
Reports are that 29 persons have so far been confirmed dead.
Indonesia’s National Disaster Agency says 38 people were injured and 42 ,000 were evacuated around Mount Merapi, where the volcano is located.
The volcano erupted at least three times on Tuesday, forcing residents to flee.
Mount Merapi is one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes and lies in one of the world's most densely populated areas.
