WI cricketers in Barbados for camp
West Indies cricketers are now in Barbados for a preparation camp ahead of next month’s tour of Sri Lanka.
The squad, led by new captain Darren Sammy, will spend the next week going through their paces at the 3Ws Oval under the guidance of head coach Ottis Gibson and his deputy David Williams.
The players will undergo fitness test today to assess their condition before the net sessions and fielding drills begin.
Following the conclusion of the camp, the players will depart in two batches on November 4 and 5.
In Sri Lanka, West Indies will play three Tests, five One-Day Internationals and a 20/20 International.
The squad includes four Jamaicans in Chris Gayle, Vice-captain Brendan Nash, Carlton Baugh and all rounder Andre Russell.
The other members of the squad are Adrian Barath, Sulieman Benn, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Nelon Pascal, Kemar Roach, Shane Shillingford, Devon Smith and Devon Thomas.
Head coach Ottis Gibson is expecting the Sri Lanka tour to be very challenging for the Caribbean side.
