Reggae Girls beaten by Costa Rica

Jamaica’s Reggae Girls suffered a major setback in Mexico yesterday in their quest to qualify for the FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup.



The Jamaicans were beaten 3-1 by Costa Rica in their opening Group ‘B’ CONCACAF Championship Qualifying Game.



Shakira Duncan had given Jamaica the lead in the 11th minute.



However, Costa Rica hit back through Racquel Rodriquez in the 42nd minute and 82nd minute and Katherine Alvarado in the 54th minute



Jamaica will next play Canada tomorrow and then meet Nicaragua on Saturday in its final game.



In the day’s other Group ‘B’ game Canada defeated Nicaragua 2-nil.



The CONCACAF tournament will run until June 28 and will qualify three teams to the FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup in Chile later in the year.
