Waterhouse deny coach’s resignation
The managers of Digicel Premier League leaders, Waterhouse Football Club, have dismissed reports that head coach Boris Johnson has resigned.
Club chairman, Bruce Bicknell, says he has not received a resignation letter from the coach. He further says the club president, Ricardo Chin, has not seen a resignation letter either.
The club had a training session yesterday without Johnson.
Johnson was promoted to the head coach position after the club fired former coach, Jeffery Maxwell, who led the club to a third-place finish in the premiership last season.
According to reports, Johnson had been having serious concerns about the operations of the club since the beginning of his tenure. Some of those concerns reportedly involved players not being paid on time and the lack of equipment.
Despite the problems, however, Johnson led the club to the top of the Digicel Premier League after 11 matches. The club has 25 points from eight wins, two losses and a draw. The club is three points ahead of Tivoli Gardens and five ahead of Boys’ Town.
Waterhouse will meet Tivoli Gardens in the end-of-round final on Sunday.
