CARICOM officials say they’re concerned that there have been numerous studies of the region's agriculture while action to get the industry off the ground remains lacking.
The criticism was emphasised at a meeting in Guyana, by CARICOM’s Programme Manager for Agriculture and Industry, Sergio Garcia.
Garcia told the meeting that the approach to get the region's agriculture industry moving in full stride was uncoordinated and disjointed.
He wants the region to find ways of improving competitiveness and creating greater impact by investing in technology, better policies and public education.
