STETHS stay on course to defend daCosta Cup title
Reigning champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) remain on course for back-to-back titles by beating Grange Hill 2-nil in their final game of the inter-zone round of the 2010 ISSA/Pepsi/daCosta Cup competition today.
As a result of the home victory, STETHS moved to seven points in Group Four to qualify as the group winner.
The winners of each of the six groups and the two best second-place finishers will advance to the quarterfinals.
Glenmuir and Rusea’s High have also booked their places in the quarterfinals as group winners.
Glenmuir secured their victory over Charlemont in the opening match of a double-header at JAMALCO in Clarendon to top Group Five with maximum nine points, while Rusea’s dismissed Browns’ Town at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay to top Group Two.
Elsewhere, Clarendon College were leaving Spalding 2-0 in the second game of a double-header at JAMALCO. Lennon carved out a 3-0 victory over Manning’s in the opening game.
In the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup competition, Jamaica College defeated Kingston College 1-0 in the first game of a double header at the Constant Spring Field.
As a result of the victory, Jamaica College have improved their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinal round and in the process have knocked Kingston College out.
