Residents of Barbuda, Antigua\'s sister island, will have to wait longer before electricity is restored to the island.

Mechanical failure at the Barbuda Power Station triggered an islandwide blackout last Saturday and technicians, including a team from Antigua are still working on installing a new generator.

On Wednesday, Antigua Public Utilities Authority’s, Electricity Manager, Lyndon Francis estimated that more than 75 percent of the island had regained power.

He said problems later developed causing the state-owned utility company to implement a load shedding programme.
