The Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) All-Island Community Football Championship received a major boost yesterday as telecommunication firm Claro pumped $51 million into the league.

The investment represents a three-year deal with INSPORTS.

Some 12,000 young men from over 800 communities across the island are expected to feature in this year’s competition. Last year’s inaugural competition was won by Hanover’s Claremont.

This year’s victors will pocket $500,000 while the second place team will walk away with $150,000, third place $100,000 and fourth place $50,000.

The competition kicks off on Sunday, November 28, at the Watson Taylor Park in Hanover.
