Bishop suspended over royal engagement

A Church of England bishop who made what was described as deeply offensive comments on Facebook about the engagement of Prince William has been suspended from his public duties.

The Bishop of Willesden, the Right Reverend Pete Broadbent, had said the union between Prince William and Kate Middleton would last about seven years.

While he apologised for the remarks yesterday, he was still asked by the Bishop of London to withdraw from public ministry until further notice.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are to marry in April 29, 2011.
