Wayne Rooney scores winner for Man United

Wayne Rooney grabbed the winner from the penalty spot as English club Manchester United beat Rangers of Scotland 1-0 at the Ibrox Stadium in Scotland yesterday to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The striker made his first start since signing a new five-year deal and marked the occasion with the only goal of the game in the 87th minute, after United had been frustrated by the Scottish champions.
United and Valencia will now battle for top spot in Group C in the final game, while Rangers can take some consolation from reaching the Europa League ahead of Turkish champions Bursaspor.
Tottenham of England also booked their place in the last 16 with an effortless 3-0 victory over Werder Bremen of Germany at White Hart Lane in England.
