Haiti presidential candidate worried about fraud

One of the leading presidential candidates in Haiti’s elections is expressing concern about what she says could be incidents of massive fraud in Sunday's polls.

Former first lady Mirlande Manigat, who is leading in most polls, says she is wary of unplanned voting stations managed by supporters of Jude Celestin, the candidate backed by President Rene Preval.

However unlike four of the other presidential hopefuls, Manigat wants the election to go ahead.

She says if the vote is delayed President Preval will remain in office and the country will face a new, unproductive cycle with a provisional government.

Many Haitians have said that they are yet to receive their national identification cards that will facilitate their voting in the election.

At least one electoral official has said that he fears there will be fraud everywhere during the election.
