Climate plan from Aosis

The Alliance of Small Island States (Aosis) says next week it announce details of a deal to promote low-carbon economic growth for 17 nations.

That deal was brokered at the UN climate change conference in Cancun.

Grenadian diplomat, Dessima Williams, who chaired Aosis at the talks, says the plan will be backed by a group of developed nations as part of so-called fast-start aid for developing nations.

The organisation's members have told delegates that some low-lying island nations face the end of history due to rising sea levels, unless the world takes stronger action to slow global warming.

Williams says there’s clear scientific evidence of the impact on small, vulnerable countries.
