Montserrat awaits Britain decision on CSME

Montserrat will have to wait two more years to find out whether it will get permission from Britain, to participate in the Caricom Single Market and Economy (CSME).
Britain has turned down a request from the volcano-ravaged overseas territory to be a part of the regional initiative.
Chief Minister Lowell Lewis said he is disappointed with the decision, especially since his administration was of the view that it had done enough work to make the case for a continuing relationship with CARICOM.
Montserrat is a British-dependent territory but has very close ties with the Caribbean Community.
