Ice warnings for many parts of UK

Severe weather warnings of widespread snow are in effect for many parts of the UK.

Forecasters say rain, sleet or snow will hit most areas and become icy in the sub-zero temperatures.

In some places, daytime temperatures have already plunged to 8 degrees Celsius.

The weather has continued to cause disruption, with some train services cancelled and many flights delayed.

Earlier this week, two pensioners were found dead in their gardens in Cumbria.

Although the Gatwick airport has reopened after being shut for two days, delays continue, and passengers are being told to check with their airlines before leaving home.
