Grenada is to have a new state of the art voter registration system early next year after the Parliament passes the relevant legislation.
The country’s Parliamentary Elections Office says the new digital system includes high-tech computers, software, a printer, fingerprint reader, card scanner, laminator and camera.
Voter registration cards are currently produced using an antiquated system involving old Polaroid cameras which officials say is costly.
In addition, they say the old system had been plagued by instances of voter fraud through forged voter cards.
