Three Caribbean nationals wanted in the United States on charges of conspiracy to blow up buildings and pipelines at the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York, have been extradited.

Their extradition came less than 48 hours after t

he Court of Appeal in Port of Spain, Trinidad struck out a challenge by them.

Trinidadian Kareem Ibrahim, 62, Guyanese Abdul Kadir, 55, and Abdel Nur, 57 were whisked away in a private jet last night, in a special operation involving 15 Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and local enforcement officers.

The three men have been charged along with another Guyanese, Russell De Freitas, who is also an American citizen, with plotting to blow up the airport.

They are also facing charges of conspiring to destroy aircraft, both US and foreign, as well as conducting illegal surveillance, photographing, videotaping and collecting information with intent to set the terminal building on fire.

The case against De Freitas, who has been in US custody since June last year, is still to begin.
