At least 81 inmates have died after a fire broke out in the San Miguel prison in the Chilean capital Santiago.
Hundreds of inmates were evacuated, with 14 prisoners said to have life-threatening injuries.
Reports said the fire broke out after a fight between rival gangs, who set mattresses on fire.
Health Minister Jaime Manalich says this is the deadliest incident in the history of the Chilean prison service.
About 1,900 inmates are said to have been in the jail, although it is meant to house only about 700.
