Wavell Hinds’ Eleven beat Chris Gayle Eleven

David Bernard Junior scored a run-a-ball 21 and Xavier Marshall 20 from 30 deliveries to lead Wavell Hind’s Eleven to victory over Chris Gayle’s Eleven in the 20/20 practice match at Sabina Park yesterday.



Jamaica are preparing for the January 10 to 23 Caribbean 20/20 tournament.



Gayle will not be available for the tournament due to overseas commitments.



Batting first Gayle’s Eleven, which included players who missed out on the 14-man squad for the tournament, made 111 off their allotted 20 overs with young batsman Horace Miller hitting a shot-filled 48 off 43 balls, including 3 sixes and 3 fours.



Gayle supported with 23 off 26 balls.



Pacers Krishmar Santokie, 2 for 11 off four overs and Andre Russell, 2 for 16 off three overs, took most wickets for Hinds Eleven.



Hinds’ Eleven then made 138 for 6 off 20 overs, chasing a revised victory target of 140 set by the coaching staff.



Marlon Samuels top scored with 38 off 30 balls, hitting 3 sixes and a four.



Young pacer Jason Dawes, 2 for 20, off four overs and batting all-rounder, Nkrumah Bonner, 2 for 14 off fours, led the way for Gayle’s Eleven.
