West Indies suffer big defeat

Opener Shane Watson smashed an impressive 126, his maiden century, to lift Australia to a series-winning victory against West Indies in the third Digicel One-Day International at the Grenada National Stadium yesterday.



West Indies, sent in to bat, were bowled out for 223 off 48 overs with captain Chris Gayle top scoring with a boundary-studded 53 off 54 balls.



Fellow opener Xavier Marshall 35, Ramnaresh Sarwan 31 and Shivnarine Chanderpaul 32 also made useful contributions.



Nathan Bracken was the top wicket taker for Australia with three for 26 off nine overs and Andrew Symonds claimed two for 42.



Set 224 for victory, Australia coasted home at 227 for three off 40.3 overs. Fidel Edwards, Darren Sammy, Gayle took a wicket each.



The teams move onto St. Kitts for the fourth match of the five-match series on Friday.
