Latapy’s job safe, for now

Under-fire Trinidad and Tobago coach Russell Latapy seems poised to hold onto his job, at least through the Christmas holidays.
It was widely expected that a meeting of the T&T Football Federation on Wednesday would have determined Latapy’s fate but the issue never came up.
T&T Football Federation media officer Shaun Fuentes says Latapy’s status was not discussed.
He said the matter will be discussed at a date to be announced.
T&T Football Federation president Oliver Camps, special advisor Jack Warner and other members of the executive committee met Wednesday to discuss the team’s performance during the tournament and it was believed Latapy’s job would have also been a talking point.
Prior to the meeting, technical reports on the side’s performance including one from Latapy were submitted by the management team.
Following T&T’s failed campaign at the Digicel Caribbean Cup Finals in Martinique last month, it has been widely speculated that Latapy would be fired.
T&T started as one of the favourites but lost their two opening group games to crash out before the semi-final stage, missing out on a spot in next year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.
