Vote verification, not recount

The head of the Organisation of American States (OAS) and CARICOM observer mission in Haiti has clarified the review process that has begun following the country's disputed presidential elections.

Colin Granderson, who is also CARICOM's foreign affairs chief, says there would be no actual recount of the votes cast on November 28.

He says instead the mission is to evaluate the procedures used for the vote count that led to preliminary election results.

A multinational team put together by the OAS began its formal review on Thursday.
