Scores of angry Haitians have taken to the streets in the capital Port-au Prince to demand the arrest of President, Rene Preval.

Several riots have been launched in the country since the November 28 polls, which several Haitians claim were rigged.

Preliminary results showed that former first lady Mirlande Manigat, won the majority of the votes, while second place winner, ruling-party candidate Jude Celestin eliminated carnival singer Michel 'Sweet Micky' Martelly by less than one per cent.

The Organisation of American States has asked Mr. Preval to delay announcing election results until an international panel of experts reviews the vote.

However, demonstrators angered by the delay in the announcement of the results, yesterday blocked roads and filled streets with garbage amid Independence Day celebrations.

President Preval has attempted to urge national unity and patience. However, his was speech at an event in the northern coastal city of Gonaives was interrupted by protesters, who demanded that he step down.
