Regional ministers agree on CARICOM Dev fund

Caribbean finance and trade ministers have agreed on a US$60 million tag to start the CARICOM Development Fund that is expected to be launched in Antigua on Thursday.



Caribbean Finance ministers met yesterday for a special joint meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) and the Council for Finance and Planning (COFAP).



Trinidad and Tobago\'s Finance Minister, Karen Nunez-Tesheria, told reporters that the decision taken at the meeting would be sent to the leaders for their approval.



The CARICOM Development Fund will allow for the provision of financial and technical assistance to disadvantaged member states and sectors, under the CARICOM Single Market and Economy that allows for the free movement of goods, skills, labour and services.
