Guyana's President, Bharrat Jagdeo, says he has no intention of seeking a third term in office.
Elections are due in Guyana this year, and Jagdeo says many people from his party, the business community and from some opposition parties have been urging him to pursue a third term.
According to the state-owned Guyana Chronicle, President Jagdeo has made it clear that he is not interested in a third term.
He says he signed into effect the new constitution which brought in term limits, and he intends to respect the law.
