England beat Australia in T20
Debutant Chris Woakes was the match-winner as England claimed a record eighth consecutive 20/20 victory with a last-ball one-wicket win over hosts Australia in Adelaide.
Paul Collingwood's side edged across the line despite a late collapse, inspired by Shane Watson's career-best figures of four for 15, as Woakes hit his final ball for the single needed for victory.
Woakes ended on 19 not out off 23 balls, as England set 158 for victory reached the target with one wicket to spare.
Eoin Morgan 48, opener Ian Bell 27 and Kevin Pietersen 25 scored most of the runs for England.
Earlier, Australia were restricted to 157 for four against the bowling of Michael Yardy two for 28.
Shane Watson top scored for Australia with 59 and fellow opener David Warner supported with 30.
The teams will meet again in the second and final match on Friday.
