A US judge has ordered the personal physician of Michael Jackson is to stand trial over the death of the pop star.

Dr Conrad Murray is accused of involuntary manslaughter and has pleaded not guilty.

A preliminary hearing into the case lasted six days and heard from more than 20 witnesses.

On the final day, two doctors testified that Dr Murray had acted outside the general standard of medical care.

The court heard that he had repeatedly given Michael Jackson a strong anaesthetic to help him sleep.

Following the testimonies, Judge Michael Paster ordered that the case should go before a jury for trial.

He also ruled that Dr Murray could not practice medicine in California.
