Dianne Abbott to lead UK travel tax effect on the Caribbean debate

The impact of the increased United Kingdom travel tax on the Caribbean will be debated in the British Parliament next week.



The UK travel tax went up by as much as 55 percent last year.



Government and private tourism interests from the Region have been lobbying for a roll back, saying the increase has resulted in a downtown in visitor arrivals to the Caribbean.



Opposition Member of Parliament, Diane Abbott, who is also Jamaican, will lead off the debate in the British House of Commons on Thursday.
