Planned activities to mark the International Year for People of African Descent in Guyana have led to sharp disagreements between representatives of the country’s two main ethnic groups, Indo and Afro Guyanese.
The main group representing Guyanese of African descent says plans by the Indian-dominated government in Georgetown do not go far enough.
It has threatened to boycott an event the organisation alleges the Bharrat Jagdeo administration is trying to politicise.
