Jaguars top Hoopers

Granville Jaguars last night surged to the top of the table after defeating Hoopers in the Western Basketball Association’s Lucozade Sport Men’s Championship at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.



Granville Jaguars won 82-72 with Leroy Lawrence scoring a game high 27 points and 12 rebounds. Hawayne Blake chipped in with 19 and Douglas Powell scored 17.



For Hoopers, Nicholas Day had 20 points and 11 rebounds, Marlon Comrie scored 13, Andrea Morgan 11 and Neville Claire nine.



Both teams have advanced from Zone ‘A’ to the semi-finals. Sav-La-Mar Hawks and Innercity Avalanche are Zone ‘B’ qualifiers.



In Saturday’s semis, Inner city Avalanche and Granville Jaguars face off at 5 p.m. and at 7 p.m. Hoopers will tip off against Sav-La-Mar Hawks.
