Four Jamaicans included in West Indies World Cup squad

Explosive opener Chris Gayle is among four Jamaicans named in West Indies 15-man squad for the Cricket World Cup, which bowls off next month. Left-arm orthodox spinner Nikita Miller, fast-bowling all-rounder Andre Russell and wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh Junior were also picked.



There was no place for Jamaican fast bowler Jerome Taylor, who is back from injury and currently playing in the Caribbean 20/20 Championship.



The remaining members of the squad are captain Darren Sammy, Adrian Barath, Sulieman Benn, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kieron Pollard, Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Devon Smith.



Prior to the World Cup, the squad will play three One Day Internationals against Sri Lanka on January 31st and February 4th and 6th and will be engaged in a preparatory camp before their first World Cup match on February 24th against South Africa.



India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are co-hosts for the World Cup, which will be held between February 19 and April 2.



Earlier, India Women choosing to bat compiled 188 for nine off their 50 overs with Amita Sharma undefeated on 47.



Bowling for West Indies Women Tremayne Smartt ended with two for 27 from 8 overs, while there was a wicket each for Stafanie Taylor, Stacy-Ann King, Shermaine Campbell, Shanel Daley and Deandra Dottin.
