Cuba, Venezuela improving telecoms

Venezuela has announced plans to connect Cuba to a high speed fibre optic cable.
The development is seen as undermining US sanctions prohibiting Cuba's access to nearby underwater lines.
Officials involved in the Venezuelan-Cuban joint venture say a French ship will begin laying the 995-mile submarine cable on Saturday.
It is expected to reach eastern Cuba by February 8.
