St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves disclosed in the country’s Parliament yesterday that there was a plot to assassinate him.

According to Gonsalves, the plot was hatched by two of St. Vincent’s major drug organisations which he claims are upset about his victory in last month’s General Election.

He said the alleged contract killer was subsequently held by police and charged with serious offences.

Gonsalves also told the Parliament that the alleged conspirators sought to secure another Vincentian man to carry out the hit, but he turned it down when he heard that the prime minister was the target.

He said a Trinidadian was then hired.
