St Kitts Opposition criticises Personal Tax

The opposition People’s Action Movement (PAM) in St Kitts has implored the government to resist the urge to implement a Personal Income Tax saying it will harm the economy and be a burden for citizens.

The party’s Deputy Political Leader Eugene Hamilton has expressed alarm at the possibility of the government introducing the tax.

In 1980, almost immediately upon taking office, the PAM administration abolished personal income tax in St Kitts and Nevis implementing an election platform promise which was heavily criticised by the Labour Party.
