First cholera death in Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic has registered its first cholera death since the disease swept through neighbouring Haiti.



Health officials said the victim was a 53-year-old Haitian.



Almost 4,000 people have died of cholera in Haiti.



However, there is now a sharp drop in new cases in the Caribbean country.
