Young Reggae Boyz gets big boost from Claro
Jamaica’s participation in the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship received a major boost last night when telecommunications firm Claro announced a sponsorship of $13 million to the team.
The announcement was made at a ceremony held at Terra Nova Hotel.
Claro’s media manager Latoy Williams says the financial help is also intended to further the career of the team members.
The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) used the occasion to present the tournament mascot and the theme song for the young Reggae Boyz.
The CONCACAF Under-17 championship will be held in Western Jamaica from February 14 to 27.
Twelve nations will contest the tournament and the top four teams will qualify for the FIFA Under 17 World Cup to be staged in Mexico this June.
Jamaica are drawn in Group ‘C’ along with Caribbean rivals Trinidad and Tobago and Guatemala.
