Chris Gayle slams 92 from 40 balls
Jamaica and West Indies batsman Chris Gayle scored a brilliant half-century yesterday to lead Western Australia to a 32-run victory over Queensland in the Australia 20/20 Big Bash at the Gabba pitch.
Gayle blasted 92 from 40 balls as Western Australia piled up 202 for four from their allocation of 20 overs, after choosing to bat.
In the process, Gayle surged to the fastest 50 of the Big Bash season from 20 balls, and the third fastest in the six-year history of the competition.
His innings included seven fours and eight sixes.
Queensland were then restricted to 170 for five with Nathan Reardon scoring 56 from 45 deliveries and opener Michael Lumb 42 from 33 balls.
Mick Lewis was the most successful bowler for Western Australia with two for 39, while Gayle bowled four overs which cost 28 runs.
