Guyana’s cricketers, who arrived in the country yesterday for the start of the West Indies Cricket Board Regional four-day tournament on Friday, will stage their first training session this morning at Sabina Park in Kingston.

The training session will start at 9 a.m.

Guyana, with newly appointed captain Assad Fudadin, will meet Jamaica in their first round game at Alpart Sports Club in St Elizabeth.

Guyana are missing regular captain Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul who are both on West Indies duties.

The side has been hit with injury blow to veteran opener Sewnarine Chattergoon, who has been replaced by middle order batsman and part time off spinner Steven Jacobs.

The Jamaicans will also stage a practice session today at Sabina Park. They will take the field at 1 p.m.

Three newcomers have been selected in Jamaica’s 13-man squad.

Opener Simon Jackson, wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton and left-arm fast bowler Sheldon Cotterell are the newcomers, while omitted are the top order batting trio of Xavier Marshall, Berenton Parchment and Donovan Pagon.

Several senior players are unavailable due to West Indies duties. They are opener Chris Gayle, wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh Junior, young pacer Andre Russell and spinner Nikita Miller. They are currently in Sri Lanka playing in the One-Day International series.
