Young Reggae Boyz beat Haiti
Jamaica’s National Under-17 football team continued its preparation for the CONCACAF Under-17 World Cup qualifiers yesterday by scoring a 3-2 victory over Haiti in a practice match at Ferdie Neita Park in Portmore, St Catherine.
The young Reggae Boyz had to dig deep for victory as Haiti came from two goals down at half time to level the scores. However, Jamaica secured the win with six minutes from the end through substitute Junior Flemmings.
Goals by Javia Roberts, 19th minute, and captain Omar Holness, 25th minute, had given the Young Reggae Boyz a 2-0 lead. However, Johnley Chery, 56th minute, and George Kerlins, 74th minute, replied for the Haitians.
Both teams are preparing for this month’s CONCACAF Under-17 World Cup Qualifiers in Western Jamaica.
Four countries will advance from the 12-team Qualifiers to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Mexico later in the year.
Jamaica will play their last practice match on Thursday against Costa Rica at Brancourt in Clarendon.
