One of Jamaica’s most promising professional boxers, Tsetsi Davis will make his debut in the Wray and Nephew Contender boxing series at the Chinese Benevolent Association auditorium tonight.

Davis, who represents the Yellow Team, will go up against Terron Leslie from the Green Team. The fight is scheduled to start at 9.30 p.m. and will be live on TVJ.

Davis was one of Jamaica’s most successful amateur boxers and has a 5-1 professional record.

His team is trailing 4-1 in the 15-week championships and, after tonight’s show, there will only be two more weeks for the eight-fight preliminary round.

This will leave eight boxers in the contest and they will battle over eight rounds for four weeks.

The series, which is designed to produce the new middleweight boxing champion of Jamaica, is sponsored by J. Wray and Nephew, Claro and TVJ.

There will be purse money of nearly $2 million up for grabs.

The winner of the series will earn $1 million, the runner-up $500,000, third-place $250,000 and fourth $200,000.
