Jamaica, Windward Islands draw

The rain-affected game between three-time defending champions Jamaica and Windward Islands finished in a draw as the second round matches in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Regional First-Class Championship ended yesterday.



Only the first session of play between Jamaica and Windward Islands was possible on the final day because of rain at Queen’s Park Stadium in Grenada.



The Jamaicans, who resumed on 27 for one with a first innings lead of 99 runs, were 53 for four in their second innings at the interval. No further play was possible.



Final scores in the match are Jamaica 214 and 53 for four; Windward Islands 115.



Following the second round of matches, Jamaica, England Lions and Trinidad and Tobago are locked atop of the table on 18 points each.



England Lions took first innings points from Barbados in another game, which ended in a draw. The match was played at Kensington Oval.



The visitors, replying to Barbados’ first innings total of 471 were bowled out for 538 after resuming the final day on 412 for four.



Over at the UWI Sports and Physical Education Complex, hosts Trinidad and Tobago completed a two-wicket victory over Combined Campuses and Colleges before lunch. Final scores in that game are Combined Campuses and Colleges 131 and 250; T&T 164 and 221 for eight.



Meanwhile, the match between hosts Guyana and Leeward Islands at Bourda Oval was declared a no-result after rain and a soaked outfield forced play to be abandoned without a ball being bowled for the fourth straight day.
