Jamaica prepares for St Kitts

Jamaica’s cricketers are now preparing to travel to Basseterre, St Kitts for the fourth round of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Regional first-class championship, after playing to a draw with hosts Barbados at Kensington Oval yesterday.



Following the third round of matches, Jamaica, Combined Campuses and Colleges and England Lions are locked atop the table on 24 points each. As a result of the tiebreaker rule England Lions are leading ahead of Jamaica and Combined Campuses and Colleges.



The final day of the third round match between Jamaica and Barbados belonged to Marlon Samuels, who stroked his second hundred for the season.



Samuels struck eight fours and one six in 105 from 249 balls, as Jamaica, leading by two on first innings, finished on 340 for eight in their second innings when the game was called off.



Wavell Hinds supported with 57, Brendan Nash was not out on 41, captain Tamar Lambert scored 41, and Jerome Taylor made 30.



Final scores in the match are Jamaica 324 and 340 for eight, Barbados 322.



The game between England Lions and hosts Trinidad and Tobago at Queen’s Park Oval also ended in a draw. T&T, chasing 319 for victory, reached 196 for three before the game was called off.



Final scores in that game are England Lions 325 and 277 for seven declared; T&T 283 and 196 for three.



At the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua, Combined Campuses & Colleges completed a 158-run victory over Leeward Islands on the stroke of the lunch interval. The Leewards, chasing 370 for victory, were bowled out for 211 after resuming the final day on 70 for five.



Final scores in that match are Combined Campuses and Colleges 286 and 269, Leewards 186 and 221.
