Haiti's reconstruction commission has approved about $250 million in new projects, including the country's first widely available mortgage scheme.

The international community pledged several billion dollars in aid to Haiti after the earthquake in January last year.

However, little has been rebuilt as donors have held back on implementing projects, partly because of an uncertain political outlook.

The reconstruction commission decides how to spend the aid money.
