Guyana election candidate says process fraudulent
In Guyana, ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) presidential candidate hopeful, Moses Nagamootoo, has described as a pantomime the arrangements made to fill the contentious post.
The former Information Minister told the Caribbean Media Corporation he has no intention of facing a 15-member screening committee to consider his appropriateness for the position of presidential candidate for upcoming national elections.
Four of the other hopefuls have already faced the committee which is due to send names forward for eventual selection by the 35-member PPP Central Committee.
However, Nagamootoo says the screening committee is an inappropriate body.
This is the first time such a committee has been established for selection of a presidential candidate.
