No injuries as West Indies team bus stoned

West Indies team management says there were no injuries to players after their bus was stoned on its way back to the team hotel following a nine-wicket thrashing of co-hosts Bangladesh in Mirpur yesterday.



The team's media manager, Philip Spooner, confirmed that two windows cracked, but none shattered.



The incident occurred after West Indies completed a crushing nine-wicket victory over the hosts in a match that lasted all of 31 point 1 overs.



The discontent among the crowd could be seen when they started throwing the placards that have "4" and "6" written on them onto the playing field the moment

Bangladesh lost their last wicket to be bowled out for their lowest-ever One Day International total of 58.



Meanwhile, Sports Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange described the stoning of the West Indies team bus in Dhaka as very unfortunate.



Minister Grange says she is relieved that none of the players or team officials was injured.



The minister further says although there have been problems at cricket on the sub-continent in recent times; the incident was a very unpleasant surprise.



Minister Grange has urged the International Cricket Council, ICC, and the host countries to do everything possible to ensure the safety of all teams and spectators at the tournament.



The ICC World Cup is being co-hosted by Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
