Barbados Culture Minister, Stephen Lashley, has issued an appeal to Barbadians to stop criticising Grammy-winning singer, Rihanna and instead embrace her as a daughter of the soil.
Minister Lashley was speaking at the launch of a Certificate in Motion Picture Arts at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination at the University of the West Indies.
He says the criticisms of Rihanna have been misinformed and adds that people should encourage the 23 year-old pop artiste as she represents the future of the
Barbadian creative industry and the Caribbean.
Lashley has not said why he is defending the 23-year-old international singing sensation, who is now on a tour of Australia.
