2000 bodies found in northeast Japan
About 2,000 bodies have been found on two shores in Japan's Miyagi Prefecture following last Friday’s devastating earthquake and massive tsunami.
The prefectural government has been unable to contact about 10,000 people in the town of Mina-misan-riku.
The find will significantly increase the death toll from the powerful quake and tsunami from the 1,597 which was earlier reported.
In the meantime, there has been a second explosion at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan.
Television footage showed smoke rising from the plant's reactor 3, a day after an explosion hit reactor 1.
Japan's nuclear safety agency says the blast was believed to have been caused by a build-up of hydrogen.
However, as they tried to allay fears of a radioactive leak, Government officials say the reactor core was still intact.
